The William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) is the 60th Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in the United States Navy. The ship is named for Vice Adm. William P. Lawrence, a fighter pilot, Vietnam War Prisoner of War, a U.S. Third Fleet commander, a Chief of Naval Personnel, and a Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy. April 17, 2010 PCU William P. Lawrence was christened during a 10 a.m. CST ceremony at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss. Diane Lawrence, widow of the ship's namesake, and Vice Adm. Lawrence's daughters, Laurie Lawrence and retired Capt. Wendy Lawrence, served as sponsors of the ship.
